LIGHTDANCERS is here to be a means of spiritual encouragement for those
who will eventually become our legacy. It is clear that each of us go through this life with
the free will to choose the road we will take. God has given us this ability because He loves
us so much that He does not want to impose His will upon us. But He wants the best in life for
each and every one of His children. There are no exclusions when it comes to the depths of God's love.
I Corinthians 2:9 says:
"Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which
God has prepared for those who love Him."
The goodness that God desires for us goes beyond our wildest imagination! And it goes
beyond this moment in our life. Life in general is one continuous learning experience.
Teenagers and young adults dream and talk about their future a lot, but it's really hard to
envision yourself 5 years, let alone 10 years down the road. I'm sure it's safe to say that few of us were
able to conceive of how our choices of the moment would effect our tomorrows. As young adults
learn how to express themselves to the world around them, they are labeled quite often by their means
of that expression. Whether it be by the way they dress, the words they use, the interests they show or don't
show, their motives are instantly dissected and those who should be assisting them in their
growth, sometimes end up causing more damage than they could ever imagine by their
lack of acceptance and misguided desires to see them function and think in a way that may not be intune
with the needs and issues of the next generation.
Let's face it, most of the younger generation can spot a
phony a mile away. They'll shut you down in a New York second if you can't relate at all and they rarely want
to hear it when you have "been there and done that." They are the first to call you out for being a
hypocrite and often with very good justification. And let's be honest here as adults. Too often we aren't
practicing what we preach. For some twisted reason we find the need to justify that we have the right as
adults to indulge in things that our children cannot. But the truth is, our kids are getting more bombarded
with mixed messages today than we ever were. It is vital for the next generation that we become living
examples of what we preach and really, that we stop the preaching and simply start living our lives
honestly and genuinely.
For those of you who may be concerned with any sexual subject matter that is reflected within our
website pages concerning the exotic dancing industry, please remember that the bottom line is the at
this is a Christian website. It's message is Christian. It's content is Christian. Our society is quick to
bombard our children with sexual messages and Christian parents are equally as quick to try to shield
their children from those messages. The truth is that we must deal with them every day. To keep our children in
a box and pretend that because we are Christian, our children need not be exposed to such things is a
wonderful tactic of the enemy. What this creates are children who become young adults who do not know
how to contend with what the world has to offer when they launch out on their own and all too often, the
result is bad choices that result in bad situations. And so, that brings me to my next several points of
discussion....
The photos you see on this website are reflective of where LIGHTDANCERS has been. They tell a
story. It is the story of a life and the story of God's transforming power. A small handful of the photos were
taken with feature dancers. You will probably see more skin on the newsrack of your local grocery store
definately more at the beach! These are real people in the midst of their career environment. No, I'm not
removing the pictures. If you are offended, please accept my apologies but this goes back to life's realities;
so stop judging a book by it's cover. We have encountered some incrediblely wonderful women throughout
the years. These are but a few and they deserve acknowledgement.
Then there is the question,"Why don't you launch a new website for Mirage? There are
going to be parents who have a problem with the combination of the two." Fair enough. I'm a parent. I
understand the concern. The answer is very simple. To seperate the two would be in essence, denying
what God has done in my life. It would be like hiding "that side" in the dark as one does when one is doing
something that causes shame. The days of shame are over. That is what life was for me - this is what life has
become for me. The truth is that one is relative to the other. Very relative. Life is a journey for each one of
us. Sometimes we end up on some pretty crazy and dangerous roads because of our choices. Do
you know why I became a dancer at 18? Because I was bored and wanted adventure. It wasn't money and it
wasn't fame. It came out of a lack of something constructive and exciting to do. Sad but true. This website
then tells the story of how God used that less than desirable choice I made and brought about amazing things
in it's aftermath (my favorite scripture that reflects this is Genesis 50:20. Go look it up!). It was 14 years
after I left the business when LIGHTDANCERS was formed and let me tell ya, it's not something
I could forsee as part of my life's plan. That was scarey territory to return to, but God has done amazing
things for the generations to follow because of those experiences and I will not deny His power or those
victories by seperating the two efforts.
Teenagers are quick to learn by two means visual - watching and observing the world around them and those
in it and by experience - getting out there, regardless of your advice and doing it for themselves. You did it.
I did it. They will do it. Our words may come back to them in quiet moments but it is what they know for
themselves that will stick with them best as lessons they have truly learned. All we can do is make ourselves
available for them and allow ourselves to be used as the conduit for that experience, hence, Mirage.
Because we desire to be a constant beacon that stands to reflect the transforming power of the unchanging
love of Jesus Christ, it is not our desire to try to mold any of those we encounter into what we feel he or she
should be that would be acceptable to God. They are acceptable as they are, where they are. It's important
that each person discover the love of Jesus Christ, even if they choose to do nothing with that knowledge at
this point in their life. Establishing relationships is important and in connecting with others on a genuine level,
the door is then open for more effective and lasting ministry. For only God knows what His plan is for each
one of us. Only He is capable of touching a heart in a way that transforms an existence into a life. A life of
abundance and joy. A life of blessing and fulfillment. A life unlike anything we've ever experienced before!
