LIGHTDANCERS
Native American Outreach
What an amazing people. What a gentle people. What a resiliant people.
Let's face it folks, this picture is really what this national monument of ours should look like.
The white faces of our founding fathers have absolutely no business peering out over the sacred lands that our
English and European ancestors stole from the native peoples of this country. And that dear friends, is a
cold, hard fact. The actions of our forefathers were absolutely atrocious! We decimated an entire nation in
one fell swoop in the name of "Christianity." I'm sorry, where is it that Jesus ever pushed his Father's name
on a people? It was always a choice - after all, that is the beauty of Christianty.
And when the white man was done annhilating many of the original tribes of this great nation, he corraled those that were
left into ever so small portions of the worst of the land that he had previously stole from them and then proceeded to give
away much of what remained to any white man who was willing to stake claim. But the choicest pieces of their sacred ground
were sold at a very high price to those who would bring commerce and corruption to the country we are so proud of today.
Do I sound cynical? Jaded? Unforgiving? No. What is done is done. It's history....our history, every ugly detail of it.
But the fact remains, that it only became "our country" by way of pummeling and pilaging it's original citizens. Those of us who call ourselves Americans are in actuality, the original terrorists. Hows
that for a thought? See? Border Patrol was really more important than anyone realized back in 1492 afterall!
The fact is that the original inhabitants of the land we call "ours" have suffered at the hands of our ancestors and their decendants
continue to suffer in this great nation where we claim all are free and and the American Dream can belong to anybody. There
aren't a whole lot of people groups in America these days who live without electricity and running water, but this is a
reality for far too many of our Native American brothers and sisters. If you doubt me, just pay a visit to Rosebud, South Dakota
or the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona for a reality check.
