Are You In Light?
"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God
our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth."
I Timothy 2:3-4
It is the misconception of many that our God is one of condemning judgment. He is not. We
are the children of a forgiving and loving God. A merciful and gracious God. He loves us
so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us. Who are you that God should
offer up a sacrifice so precious? You are a child of the living God and it's time to step
up and claim your heritage! So if you have had enough of life as you know it and you are
ready for a new and abundant life, then the road to salvation lies before you.
Romans 3:23 says:
"...for all have sinned
and fall short of the glory of God,"
Isn't it interesting to note that Romans 3:23 does not say "some", but
rather
"all"? Many of us mistakenly believe that since we are basically good people
who do nothing to cause harm to others, that we will probably have a place
in heaven. God is no respector of persons. It makes no difference to Him
whether you are a dancer or a lawyer; whether you commit adultery or
commit murder.
We are all equal in His eyes and sin is sin.
John 14:6 says:
"Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the
life; no one comes to the Father, but through me."
It is important to understand that salvation is not had through a church, from a religion,
by a priest, or because of the good things you do. The only way you can receive the gift
of salvation is by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Many may agree that He is the
Son of God who died on a cross. But agreeing is not enough.
For any change to be lasting, it must come from the inside out. God wants you to rely on
Him, not on yourself. He wants to bring you into His light, but He won't force you out of
the darkness. The choice has to be your own. God wants your heart. If you are willing to
give it to Him, then start with a prayer such as this~
"Lord Jesus, I need you. I'm sorry for my sins. Thank you for loving me enough to come
down and die on the cross for me. Help me to leave behind my old ways and the things in
my life that keep me from you. Send down your Holy Spirit to guide me and teach me. Open
my heart to receive your love and protect it from the lies of Satan. Thank you for
forgiving me Father. I know that You have a plan for me and I give my life to You. Make
me the kind of person that You want me to be. Amen."
If this expresses the desire of your heart; if you pray it and truly mean it.........
congratulations! This is the beginning of an incredible new life! However, like anything
worthwhile, it's going to require effort on your part. But the one thing you can be
certain of, is that you won't be going it alone!
I John 3:18 says:
"My little children,
let us not love in words or in tongue,
but in deed and in truth."
To get truth, you'll need to go to the Bible. Don't shy away for a lack of understanding.
There are many different versions available today that make reading pleasurable. If you
don't have one, then invest in a Bible. It's important that you spend time every day in
the Word of God. Any of the four Gospels of the New Testament is a good place to start.
But the Book John is a wonderful example of the depth of Jesus' love for us.
As for your deeds, they need to begin with prayer. Prayer is your direct line to the
throne of God. You don't need special words or the sanctity of a church to spend time
with the Lord. Anytime, anyplace will do. A prayer is simply words from your heart that
flow as easy as if you were talking to a good friend...and after all, you are!
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a NEW creation;
old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new."
II Corinthians 5:17
